I finally feel like I live in an apartment and neighbourhood with the right kind of vibe for art making. I haven't really felt this since being in Strathcona. There is something about the light being cast off of the graffiti covered walls, and the sounds and sights of the people here that inspired these pieces. I feel that I am working here with themes of the subconscious processing transformation and change, while still keeping with my bricolage aesthetic of layering and expressive sketching. The sweaty skate boarders, the old couples, toothless little ankle biters zooming around on their bikes, all of different ethnic backrounds blend and create a really awesome energy. I'm glad to be a part of it.
